The Opportunity
As Counsel, you will be responsible for addressing state and federal regulatory requirements for annuity products. You will produce prospectuses, contracts, and other disclosure documents. You will provide advice and counsel on product development and service operations activity related to registered index-linked annuities, fixed-indexed annuities, fixed annuities, variable annuities, and various riders and features. You will be a subject matter expert for your colleagues in various departments throughout the product life cycle, starting with product development.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel, including legal research, analysis, and professional services in assigned areas of law.
- Develop and maintain expertise in assigned areas of law.
- Advise on the development and maintenance of registration statements for variable and registered index-linked annuities.
- Participate in drafting prospectuses, annuity contracts, and other disclosure documents.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of company products, operations and procedures.
- Participate in product development process and review company advertising, public disclosures, policies, and practices for legal compliance.
- Participate in development of and updates to administrative forms.
- Develop working knowledge of business systems and processes used to perform the functions of the job.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Must be admitted to practice law in Ohio and in good standing.
- Must have strong writing skills.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in relevant areas of law
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience drafting prospectuses and other components of SEC filings
- Additional experience with state and federal securities laws, including the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Securities Act of 1933, and insurance and self-regulatory organizations rules and laws for variable and registered index-linked annuities
