Emory’s Office of the General Counsel seeks an experienced commercial real estate and business attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel. The Associate General Counsel will represent Emory University and Emory Healthcare on challenging matters confronting one of the nation’s premier universities and academic medical centers in the rapidly changing educational and health care delivery environments. Primary duties will include legal analysis and advice to clients on a broad spectrum of commercial real estate, construction, and land use issues and opportunities. The Associate General Counsel will also partner with clients across the Emory enterprise to address a wide variety of general university and healthcare business and corporate transactions, including potential partnership and vendor opportunities, as well as contract negotiation, review, and regulatory compliance issues. Duties may also include participation on various university committees as the legal advisor.

The candidate must be capable of working with minimal supervision, work well on a team, be an excellent communicator, and be willing to develop new areas of sub-specialty as needs may arise. The candidate must have excellent judgment, client counseling, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills. Collegiality and a sense of humor are valued. Active membership in the Georgia Bar (or ability to become an active member within one year), excellent academic credentials, and a minimum of seven years legal experience in the real estate and general corporate fields required. Previous work experience with universities, academic medical centers, health care delivery systems, and/or in-house legal departments is preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
