This position is 20% discretionary bonus eligible.

General Summary

Provides legal advice and guidance to Rise Broadband’s management team with defined accountability areas and in a manner that is timely, productive, practical, cost-effective, meets the highest legal, ethical and professional standards. Provides research, writing, and other support to the Executive staff. Provides all other necessary legal services within defined accountability areas, in cooperation with other outside legal counsel.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides legal advice and guidance to Company representatives within accountability areas
  • Prepares, reviews, and negotiates diverse profile of contracts on behalf of Rise Broadband, including but not limited to procurement and technology agreements.
  • Serves as the primary lawyer responsible for handling real estate transactions and related matters for the company.
  • Research legal issues and drafts legal memoranda and/or other materials analyzing legal obligations.
  • Participates in the definition, development, and interpretation of Company policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assists with preparation and delivery of legal and compliance related trainings to Rise Broadband’s management staff within accountability areas.
  • Provides legal advice and guidance related to Rise Broadband’s risk management and compliance processes.
  • Consistently maintains a professional demeanor and communicates in a respectful and collaborative manner
  • Follows direction, is engaged and productive and is flexible and adaptable to changing conditions and expectations
  • Collaborates with and supports the Executive team across the enterprise as needed
  • Maintains punctual, regular, and reliable attendance.
  • Demonstrates the Company’s core values and complies with all Company policies and procedures
  • Travels as business needs require
  • Other Duties as required or deemed necessary.

Scope and Accountability

  • Actions and decisions may impact company revenue, reputation and customer satisfaction
  • Makes some independent decisions and/or recommendations, generally performs work independently or with minimal direction or supervision; major decisions and recommendations are reviewed by the Chief Counsel prior to implementation.
  • Works under established legal guidelines and controls as well as applicable laws, rules and regulations within areas of accountability

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Law degree from an accredited nationally recognized law school generally required (undergraduate business degree or MBA a plus). Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, or training.
  • Active member of a State bar in good standing and commitment to promptly obtaining license in the State where employed.
  • 7 plus years relevant legal experience in law firms, corporations, or other professional organizations. Experience working as in-house counsel is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable laws, rules and regulations within accountability areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive correct, and effective legal research and writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiations preferred
  • Ability to successfully communicate with all levels of management, stakeholders, vendors and customers.
  • Ability to contribute to critical projects and to facilitate resolution of highly complex situations with multiple constituents.
  • Consistent attentions to detail, good judgement with the ability to effectively prioritize and timely produce high quality work product, and to take direction as needed.
  • Ability to facilitate resolution within complex and stressful situations with multiple constituents
  • Demonstrated skill in preparing and presenting effective written and oral reports, and recommendations
  • Ability to apply facts to law to find solutions and determine risk.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in conduction information and organizing material into a manageable form
  • Ability to work as part of an enterprise Legal department and collaborate both within and outside of the department.
  • Industry-specific experience preferred.
  • Experience with government contracted and/or regulated entities preferred
  • Strong PC Skills and Microsoft proficiency.
