Waters are looking to hire a Legal Director to provide focused legal support to the Global HR organisation.
The Legal Director will support the Global HR function by creating and developing the legal strategy and operating model.
The role will be based out of our Milford, MA site.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Creation and development of the legal strategy and operating model as it relates to support for Global HR function at Waters.
- Proactive and trusted partner to the Global HR team on a broad spectrum of employment law issues that may arise throughout our global offices, such as: flexible and remote work arrangements, employee relations, DEI, performance management, dispute resolution, leaves of absence and accommodations, wage and hour, internal investigations, compensation and benefits, and independent contractor relationships.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to determine strategy and approach on global employment-related policies, guidelines and processes, and agreements with an approach that balances pragmatism, risk, and compliance.
- Manage outside counsel and related budgets for employment matters
- Draft, revise, and update employment documentation and agreements
- Work cross-functionally with teams across legal and the business
- Support other cross-functional goals and projects for the Legal department.
- Scaling, efficiency, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the bar.
- 10 years of relevant experience as a qualified lawyer, ideally with a combination of in-house multinational organization and law firm experience
- A true expert in the space with experience supporting international business operations and partnering with HR and other professionals across multiple regions, often accommodating time zones other than your own.
- Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders while influencing and driving change across the organization, including the executive level
- A strategic thinker who sees the big picture but doesnt mind rolling up their sleeves to dig into the details
- Exercise good business judgment and will provide practical, sound advice in the midst of an evolving business landscape
- Proven ability to establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels
- Understanding of landscape of legal issues as they relate to DEI initiatives and legislation
- Ability to work collaboratively with and manage external counsel and undertake and handle a variety of legal matters
- Operates with integrity, transparency and humility
- Acts as a true company owner to advance the overall interests of Waters
- Carries a broad global perspective of markets, technology, and trends
- Balances clear strategic thinking and accountability in execution to deliver results
- Actively creates the conditions for Waters people and teams to succeed
- Fluent English (both verbal and written) required. Fluency in other languages is highly valued.
