As our Attorney 1, you will manage a diverse range of cases, such as autonomous and electric vehicle programs, aviation, shipping and public transit grants, intellectual property protection, information technology licenses, bid protests, and public-private partnerships. The DOT Office of Chief Counsel is offering an exciting position for a licensed attorney in the General Law Division, with a hybrid remote work option based in Harrisburg.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of law and certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; or
  • Completion of all preparatory steps and application to become a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Post Employment Requirement:
  • Applicants must be certified for admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and must maintain membership on a continuous basis during employment.


Additional Requirement:

  • Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be a member in good standing with the Pennsylvania Bar.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Criteria (not required):
  • Experience in transactional matters, including the drafting, negotiating, and reviewing of contracts and procurement documents.
  • Willing to learn novel and complex areas of law and develop specialization in substantive practice areas;
  • Possess solid legal research, analysis, and reasoning capabilities.
  • Able and willing to handle legal matters both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess excellent inter-personal skills, including the ability to foster trust and respect and to create positive working relationships.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
