Overview
As part of the Corporate Legal team, this Sr. Counsel position is a full-time role designed to provide practical, solutions-based legal advice and strategic direction for a wide variety of regulatory compliance matters that impact Restaurant operations and Chick-fil-A brand extensions.
The position requires independent decision-making and autonomy across complex and expanding subject areas, with a particular focus on sustainability, menu, labeling & nutrition, consumer product safety, and workplace safety & health.

Responsibilities
- Provide forward-looking counsel to Chick-fil-A, Inc., and related entities on complex regulatory schemes in the U.S. and internationally.
- Independently manage outside counsel and paralegal resources to research, review and analyze new laws, trends and issues relating to Chick-fil-As restaurant operations and brand extensions, including consumer products and retail food offerings.
- Effectively deliver strategic advice on issues with impact across the organization.
- Respond to business questions about local and state regulations that directly impact Restaurants and Chick-fil-A, Inc. priorities.
- Prepare business clients for regulatory changes through education, training, and influence.
- Independently support new and existing business initiatives in areas of sustainability, menu, labeling & nutrition, consumer product safety, and workplace safety & health.
- Provide customized advice for new restaurant openings where compliance with local laws is critical to Chick-fil-As first impression and success.
- Leverage expert advice from a variety of outside legal counsel. Identify and onboard additional outside counsel needed to support new ventures or regulatory changes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with FDA (FD&C Act, FSMA), Food Code, USDA, OSHA, CPSC, EPA, DOT, and/or other laws and regulations associated with food and other consumer products in the U.S.
- Large law firm and/or focused in-house corporate experience.
- Demonstrated academic success in law school (top 25% of class).
- Familiarity with restaurant operations and/or consumer product distribution preferred.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to build strong relationships with business leaders, other lawyers, and support staff.
- Strong time management and organization skills that enable thoughtful work on a variety of projects.
- Strong writing and editing skills with an expert ability to distill complex concepts into practical terms and processes.
- Enthusiasm for learning and a desire to contribute to a dynamic team environment.
