About the team and the role:

eBay is seeking a highly skilled, nimble and collaborative professional to serve as a product and commercial counsel supporting eBays business and product teams. This is a phenomenal opportunity to join a dedicated legal team and work at the forefront of helping to deliver e-commerce experiences around the world!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you will provide legal support on the roll out of new features and functionality, categories, and products. Clients could include teams within Focused Categories and Global Product.
  • As a strong issue spotter on commercial, regulatory, IP, privacy, marketing and consumer protection issues, you will work closely with specialists in our broader legal department to provide business-focused, end-to-end legal support and solutions to business and technology leaders.
  • This role will also include strategic partnership and commercial work.
  • You will also interact regularly with functional groups within the Company on both transactional work and policy review, including Finance, Accounting, Corporate Development, Marketing, Tax, Information Security, Privacy, Trust and Risk.
  • Drive continuous improvements, scalability and operational excellence in delivering end-to-end legal advice.
  • Provide strategic legal and business advice to facilitate long-term relationships with key partners.
  • Manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.

Job Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school and membership in at least one US state bar.
  • 5+ years of commercial and/or product counseling experience, including in-house experience (preference for platform-based models) and/or relevant law firm work.
  • Experience working closely with business development and product teams on key partnerships to ensure they align with company objectives and product roadmaps.
  • Experience managing multiple projects on deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Sound legal judgment and experience solving problems in a practical manner
  • Ability to build positive relationships quickly and interact with junior to senior business leaders with ease.
  • Tolerance for a fast-paced work environment.
  • Good sense of humor.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$144,000 - $216,150

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
