Product Marketing Attorney - HYBRID

GEICO is looking for an experienced legal professional with a background in marketing products to serve as an embedded legal advisor. Your role will be to support the business as they develop new marketing strategies and refine their work. Youll do this by building a strong relationship with the marketing team to understand their goals and plans, quickly learning their objectives and how they plan on achieving them, and then advising on legal requirements in language appropriate for smart businesspeople who dont have a legal background. As you see where the marketing unit is headed, youll also advise them on future risks and opportunities. When the marketing unit needs specialized legal expertise, youll coordinate with your colleagues in the legal department who have specialized skills to make sure your business unit gets the support it needs to excel.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Under general supervision, understand all key business objectives and means of accomplishing them for the marketing team

• Provide legal advice related to the marketing teams plans and anticipate future legal needs

• Coordinate support for the marketing unit from other parts of the legal department

• Use wide range of legal knowledge to spot any implications of business choices that could interact with multiple legal subject areas, primarily the marketing team

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have at least 5 years experience at a law firm or in-house

• Must have a law degree and an active law license to practice in the United States of America

• Must have experience in marketing/advertising law

• Strong listening and communication skills

• Ability to quickly digest and understand business plans, processes, and procedures

• Ability to provide legal advice with incomplete information

• Superb judgement about legal and legal-adjacent risks as well as mitigation opportunities

• Must be solution oriented

• Must have demonstrated experience solving business problems and advancing business metrics

Location: Hybrid This position requires the individual to work 3 days onsite at our Chevy Chase, MD or New York, NY location

Annual Salary

$131,000.00 - $254,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidates work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
