Associate General Counsel

Overview: The Associate General Counsel will report to and assist the General Counsel by providing practical, commercial legal advice as it relates to Beacons real estate acquisition, development, and financing activities. In addition, the Associate General Counsel will help supervise outside counsel and provide general corporate legal services. The Associate General Counsel will have significant exposure to business leaders at Beacon and will work closely with other legal department colleagues, senior leaders, and business executives in a collaborative, results-oriented, nimble, entrepreneurial, and positive business environment.

Company: Founded in 2004, Beacon Communities LLC is a privately owned real estate firm that develops, acquires, and manages a wide range of multifamily housing. The Company also invests in and purchases affordable housing companies and portfolios of multifamily developments. Beacon owns and manages approximately 19,000 apartments, including affordable housing, market-rate housing, and mixed-income housing. Beacons development work includes new construction, historic adaptive reuse, and the renovation of existing housing. Beacons portfolio is located across 11 states and the District of Columbia and comprises approximately 150 communities.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have six to eight years of experience practicing as a real estate transactional attorney with substantial exposure to affordable housing (i.e., low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC), historic tax credits (HTC), federal and state affordable housing financing programs, and deal structuring).

Location/Relocation: Boston, MA (potential for hybrid work arrangement, but local candidates are preferred).

Compensation: A competitive compensation package with base salary and annual target bonus.
