MUST HAVES

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in mortgage compliance required
  • 8+ years of experience in mortgage compliance, processing, loan setup or quality control
  • Expert knowledge of State and Federal compliance regulations and requirements including but not limited to CFPB rules and regulations, Loan Officer Compensation, UDAAP, FCRA, Reg B, Reg C, Reg X and Reg Z
  • Working knowledge of GRC technology or equivalent to properly monitor, evaluate, track and report on regulatory requirements, testing, results, and trends
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as regulatory and legal directives, memorandums, Federal and State Regulations and Laws, compliance memorandum, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedure manuals
  • Capable of multi-tasking in fast-paced but positive environment with heavy volume of transactions
  • Highly organized and able to manage large amounts of documents and information efficiently and accurately
  • Prior experience managing staff preferred
  • Able to gather, review, and analyze financial documents, fraud reports, and business writings and records
  • Able to identify deficiencies or defects in application documents and work independently to resolve issues
  • Able to compose complex reports and effectively present information to management, employees, and regulators both in writing and verbally
  • Proficient with computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Internet Browsers, and email functions

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Monitor, review, and analyze applicable laws and regulations affecting loan production and general compliance
    • Make recommendations and collaborate with staff to implement changes to processes, systems and forms in order to ensure that loan files are produced in full compliance with applicable laws
    • Serve as primary contact for compliance questions from production staff - obtaining, researching, analyzing and responding to compliance-related questions and inquiries from loan production staff and other employees
    • Collaborate with Chief Compliance Officer and others to publish job aids, training materials, and other items to assist production staff with compliance issues
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the business regarding the various state and federal regulations that govern the mortgage origination process
  • Serve as a point of contact for state regulatory examiners; issuing oral and written responses to inquiries and demands
    • In coordination with the Chief Compliance Officer, research and respond to all regulatory inquiries, audits, examinations, and investigations
  • Manage internal control testing to ensure that testing is thorough, accurate, and complete
    • Ensure that control testing reports are distributed to operational teams
    • Collaborate to create remedial action plans, and track remedial action plans to completion
    • Oversee compilation of monthly control testing reports
  • Manage compliance response to internal and external audit
    • Review audit findings and draft initial responses to audit findings
    • Collaborate with Chief Compliance Officer to issue final response to audit findings
    • Track and implement remedial plans to address audit findings
  • Monitor, review, and maintain in good standing all company licenses, registrations, and related certifications with state and federal regulatory and government bodies
    • Monitor and review registration and approval of licenses for loan officers and other individuals required to be licensed through the NMLS system
    • Monitor completion of required training for licensed employees and ensure that all such employees are continuously licensed and in good standing with applicable regulators
    • Prepare and file registration statements, annual reports, renewal reports, and other documents necessary to ensure that SPM is registered and in good standing to conduct business in state and federal jurisdictions
  • Responsible for managing Compliance Specialist staff, including reconciliation of timesheets, performance reviews, and training
  • Revise procedural documents as necessary to ensure that all duties are fully explained in procedural manuals
  • Collaborate with team to develop innovative methods of addressing the application and approval process
  • Other duties and/or compliance related tasks as assigned by management
