The Senior Sustainability Counsel for GE Vernova will be responsible for ensuring global ESG regulatory compliance across the company, tracking, assessing, managing and ensuring businesses are compliant with a growing number of ESG national and regional regulations in the areas of ESG. In this role, the Sustainability Counsel will oversee the regulatory reporting requirements to ensure operational rigor, accurate and credible disclosure, achievement of goals, and improved efficiency. The role will support report directly to the Executive Leader for Human Rights and Sustainability.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for tracking, assessing and ensuring businesses are compliant with growing number of ESG regulations in areas such as environmental, human rights, modern slavery, child labor, and environmental and human rights due diligence.

  • Manage outside counsel relationships and projects.

  • Counsel for all environmental and human rights related global claims or complaints filed.

  • Partner and work closely with the GE Vernova Corporate Securities team.

  • Support the Sustainability team with various projects and initiatives that support regulatory compliance, ratings and ranking, and disclosures.

  • Responsible for overseeing, reviewing, and engaging with businesses with reporting obligations globally.

  • Work closely with senior leadership team on disclosure and report review.

  • Conduct risk reviews with businesses potential risk and compliance issues related to ESG.

  • Support business-managed Conflict Minerals program through centralized due diligence protocols and reporting line with country/region regulations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at a large law firm and/or in-house working on ESG compliance.

  • Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving issues quickly and effectively and ability to make on the spot risk calls.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to set and meet multiple priorities, initiatives and to take on new challenges.
