Our company is seeking a Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. Reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal support across all aspects of our business operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced attorney to contribute to a fast-paced environment and develop their skills within a supportive team

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Collaborate with Senior Legal Counsel to provide professional corporate support and advice across all business units.

Negotiate, draft, review, and manage commercial contracts and other legal documents necessary to facilitate diverse transactions involving the Club, including sponsorship, licensing, ticketing, vendor, and program/event agreements.

Comprehend the intricacies of venue development and management within a legal context.

Conduct legal research and provide guidance on various legal matters, including contract interpretation, compliance issues, and intellectual property rights.

Develop promotional sweepstakes and contests ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

Assist in advising senior leaders on data privacy, consumer protection, and intellectual property matters.

Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to organizational policies and relevant laws and regulations.

Contribute to litigation management activities, including responding to discovery requests and managing litigation holds.

Interface with external MLS legal departments, particularly in the sports industry, to develop a strong understanding of applicable league policies.

Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure organizational compliance.

Participate in special projects and tasks assigned by Senior Legal Counsel and senior management.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

3-5 years of experience at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department (professional sports industry preferred).

Admitted to practice law in New York State or ability to become registered as in-house counsel.

Transactional and stadium/venue management experience preferred; exposure to, corporate restructuring, artificial intelligence usage/management, and data privacy a plus.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Proven ability to conduct legal research, manage projects, and review contracts.

Adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively across multiple locations.

Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Analytical mindset with strong critical thinking skills.

Willingness to work nontraditional hours as needed.

Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by New York City FC

Must be able to work games scheduled which may be at night and on weekends and holidays

COMPENSATION:

This exempt position has an estimated annual base salary range of $115,000 to $120,000. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
