Overview: Reporting to the President & CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System, the Chief Legal Officer oversees all internal and external legal matters for MHHS and its affiliates and serves as the primary legal advisor to the President & CEO, the organizations senior management team, the Board, and the hospitals and their Boards. The successful candidate will have exceptional leadership capabilities, strong talent management and development experience and excellent business acumen in order to serve as both a legal and business advisor in a highly complex environment. The CLO will help advance MHHSs vision of creating healthier communities and have an unwavering commitment to MHHSs mission and guiding strategies.

Company: As the largest employer in the Houston area and one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in Southeast Texas, Memorial Hermann has an award-winning and nationally acclaimed Accountable Care Organization, 17 hospitals, and numerous specialty programs and services conveniently located throughout the Greater Houston area. Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center is one of the nation's busiest Level I trauma centers and serves as the primary teaching hospital for McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.

Experience: At least 15 years of experience gained at a major law firm or in a senior in-house role at a hospital, health system or healthcare organization. Significant healthcare law experience is required, including in the areas of hospital/healthcare business operations; health insurance; professional liability; physician contracting; business transactions, including joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and financings. Must have an excellent understanding of all applicable federal and state laws and related regulations that govern the provision of not-for-profit healthcare services (e.g. Stark, Anti-Kickback, Antitrust, ACA, CMS, tax-exempt regulations, HIPAA and EMTALA). Previous experience at an academic medical center affiliated with a research university is strongly desired.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.

Bar: Licensed to practice in Texas or admitted to a State Bar of any U.S. State or the District of Columbia (and able to be admitted to the Texas Bar within a reasonable time following the commencement of the position).
