Position Summary

The Legal Operations Summer Intern will work closely with our legal team to support the implementation of legal operations software utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). This role offers a unique opportunity for a rising 2L or 3L law student to gain hands-on experience in legal technology while contributing to the day-to-day operations of our in-house legal department.

Duration:

  • This is a full-time summer internship position, with a duration of three months.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist in the Implementation of legal operations software, contract lifecycle management (CLM), used for managing the process of contracts from request, justification, negotiation, execution and archival while tagging meta data for tracking of key attributes such as effective/expiration dates, parties contact information, governing law, etc.
  • Once gaining a working knowledge of the CLM, candidate will take a lead role in configuring and customizing the software to meet the specific needs of the legal department and the corporation.
  • Candidate will be expected to collaborate with the legal team, administrative teams and IT department to further the implementation of legal operations software to ensure the business needs are met, while having the ability to train and leveraging AI technology.
  • Additional Day-to-Day Legal Support:
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on various topics as assigned by the legal team.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate governance documents.
  • Assist in document management, organization, and maintenance of legal files and databases.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
  • Work closely with colleagues from different departments, including IT, compliance, and business operations, to ensure alignment and integration of legal processes with overall company objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate smooth project implementation and address any issues or concerns.

Required

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school and completed at least one or two years of legal studies (rising 2L or 3L).
  • Basic understanding of legal concepts and principles, with strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work onsite at our Plymouth, MN office for the duration of the internship.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated interest in legal technology, AI, or legal operations is preferred but not required.
