Sr. Counsel Litigation & Regulatory
This position will provide primary legal support for HEP’s litigation activities and will be responsible for managing outside litigation counsel, coordinating HEP’s internal discovery efforts and working closely with HEP’s insurance team and applicable insurance carriers on matters involving insurance coverage. Additionally, this position will help support HEP’s regulatory compliance and will be responsible for coordinating communications between HEP, outside regulatory counsel (where appropriate), and applicable federal, state and local regulatory bodies. Our ideal candidate would have significant experience with complex litigation matters, an ability to work collaboratively to manage multiple simultaneous matters and would possess an ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position will be located in our corporate headquarters in San Antonio, Texas and will report to our Assistant General Counsel.
- Litigation Oversight: Manage and coordinate litigation and insurance coverage matters, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support HEP’s ongoing compliance with federal, state and local regulations affecting the midstream oil and gas industry, including environmental and commercial regulatory compliance and coordinating outside regulatory counsel as necessary. .
- Risk Management: Identify potential legal and regulatory risks and collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies for risk mitigation.
- Training and Education: Assist in developing training materials for internal teams on legal and compliance topics relevant to the industry.
- Corporate Development: Conduct legal research and due diligence to support business development initiatives, acquisitions, and investments.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
· Experience with complex litigation matters.
· Living in or willing to relocate to San Antonio, Texas.
· Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and work under tight deadlines.
· Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with internal and external clients and customers.
· Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Enthusiasm for a collaborative team environment.
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
· Active bar membership and good standing
· 5+ years of legal experience.
