Litigation Associate

Los Angeles, CA Hybrid Full Time

Inter-Con is seeking a California licensed Associate with 5+ years of defense-oriented litigation experience to provide a broad range of support for the Legal Department. The position reports to Assistant General Counsel (Litigation) and works actively with the entire management team and all corporate departments including Compliance, Operations, Human Resources, Finance, and Contracts.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include managing litigation activities and handling pre-litigation, administrative, and litigation matters as appropriate, from inception to resolution under supervision. This position will require an exercise of judgment and discretion in the following Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducting substantive pre-litigation, litigation, and administrative claim cross-departmental investigations;
  • Conducting employee relations investigations and providing guidance and counsel regarding sensitive employee relations matters;
  • Conducting wage claim audits inclusive of responses and appearances at conferences and/or hearings;
  • Strategizing, researching, and assisting with case handling and drafting law and motion and discovery as necessary;
  • Auditing and ensuring compliance with state and federal employment practices, pay practices, record keeping as it relates to same;
  • Assisting with management of contract related projects if needed such as collaborating on responses to requests for proposals, conducting contract research or reviews, etc.;
  • Contribution to and management of other legal-based projects, programs, and administrative tasks as the need arises.

This position is hybrid, with four (4) days per week in Pasadena’s corporate headquarters, with the possibility of full time in office as business needs change.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of defense litigation experience, with demonstrated case management skillset, and preferred relevant experience with an understanding of employment-based litigation, including wage and hour claims, and corporate compliance;
  • Experience in state and federal courts, adversarial proceedings with government agencies, and arbitration;
  • Candidate must possess strong organizational, project/process management, written and verbal communication skills including investigative interviewing skills, research and writing skills, as well as the ability to develop strong working relationships within the organization, including senior management.
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, inquisitive, communicative, responsible, and reliable.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Westlaw, and Microsoft Office, including Excel, and experience with SharePoint and Salesforce is preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials;
  • A Juris Doctorate from an accredited and excellent law school;
  • In good standing with the California bar.
