General Counsel
NormanMax Insurance Holdings, Inc. is looking for an organized, diligent, and proactive In-House General Counsel who is well-versed in property and casualty insurance and reinsurance contracts and compliance to help ensure that all our operations comply with government regulations and (re)Insurance industry-specific requirements on a global basis.
You will be in charge of writing and reviewing insurance and reinsurance contracts (primarily parametric) and developing a comprehensive compliance management strategy and overseeing its implementation. You will formulate internal compliance procedures and guidelines and make sure they satisfy all the demands of local, state, and federal laws.
You will assess compliance risks, legal irregularities, and various regulatory gaps, and provide guidance to the business functions in their search for viable solutions to different compliance issues. You will be expected to oversee our Compliance Program and promote awareness of proper measures and practices required to ensure high levels of compliance across all departments.
You will also be responsible for organizing meetings and presentations on new compliance policies. To that end, we expect you to stay up-to-date on any changes to relevant laws and regulations that affect our industry.
Responsibilities
Write and review insurance and reinsurance contracts
Create and oversee the implementation of effective compliance management strategies
Develop an internal framework for maintaining compliance across all departments
Monitor the implementation of new compliance protocols and make sure they meet all relevant legal requirements
Review compliance reports regularly, identify potential compliance breaches and safety risks, and provide advice to the business functions in implementing effective solutions
Lead our legal and compliance function, ensuring the proper implementation of all compliance programs and procedures
Oversee the performance of our Compliance function to ensure our training programs can adequately educate our current staff and new hires about compliance procedures
Stay informed on any changes or additions to laws and industry regulations that affect our operations
Organize presentations, meetings, and compliance seminars to promote better awareness of compliance protocols and external requirements in our industry
Requirements
University degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field (post-graduate education with a focus on compliance and risk management is preferred)
Experience in a compliance role
Experience working in a law firm or Reinsurer, E&S insurance carrier or MGA will be considered a big advantage for this role
Superior knowledge of (re)insurance industry contracts, regulations and corporate procedures for maintaining compliance
Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Excellent project management and leadership skills
Strong organizational skills
