Overview & Responsibilities

Purpose of the Job:

Join Elliott Company as a Supply Chain Contracts Attorney, where you will oversee the operations of Contract Administration within our Global Supply Chain and GPS Organization(s). In this role, you will leverage your legal expertise to manage, review, and negotiate supply chain/GPS contracts on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Administration: Develop and implement negotiation strategies, train team members, and enhance the effectiveness of the supply chain/GPS departments.

  • Supplier Interface: Collaborate with suppliers, Elliott Supply Chain/GPS executives, and various resources to ensure efficient contract management.

  • Risk Management: Review, coordinate, and resolve all commercial contractual terms and conditions for purchases globally, aligning with Elliott Corporate policies to minimize risk.

Background and Experience

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree with an active legal license, or a master’s degree in a business-related discipline with equivalent experience in sales or purchasing commercial contract law and negotiation.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in reviewing and negotiating complex international purchasing contracts.

  • Proven background in developing negotiating strategies and managing remote teams.

  • Strong experience in contract administration and both domestic and international order administration.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in maintaining legal standing through Continuing Legal Education (CLE).

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with European contract law.

Nature of the Job

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, develop, and evaluate the Global Supply Chain and GPS Department’s capabilities in strategy development and risk identification.

  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with favorable conditions to minimize organizational risk while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

  • Policy Administration: Implement and maintain Corporate Policies and Procedures regarding contracts, including educating the supply chain department.

  • Risk Resolution: Address and resolve unusual contractual requirements to prevent significant risks to the organization.

Contact with Others

Internally: Collaborate with senior Elliott Group executive management, Area Vice Presidents and Managers, the Elliott Legal Department, and all Supply Chain/GPS personnel.

Externally: Engage extensively with suppliers’ executives and sales teams, customers, and various external groups as required.

Travel:

Occasional travel for training and negotiations with suppliers.

Supervision:

Oversee and enhance the capabilities of the Supply Chain/GPS team in developing negotiation strategies and identifying risk areas.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Personally approve contracts and supply chain agreements up to a specified threshold and recommend approval for those exceeding that threshold.

  • Evaluate and craft contract terms to mitigate risk, develop negotiation strategies, and ensure favorable outcomes.

  • Ensure all contracts are reviewed and resolved in a timely manner, with a maximum turnaround of 10 days.

  • Provide training and expertise to Supply Chain/GPS personnel on Elliott contract requirements.

  • Establish long-term agreements with critical suppliers to ensure best value options.

  • Ensure adherence to proper signing authorities on Supply Chain contracts.
