DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Manage outside counsel in all facets of complex litigation, with an emphasis on IP litigation

Negotiate and resolve patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret non-litigation disputes.

Manage trademark opposition matters

Manage domain name disputes, including those conducted under Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) or similar.

Draft and negotiate license agreements or other high-risk settlement agreements.

Manage patent clearance and brand expansion activities, including by working closely with internal and external IP professionals to determine trademark and patent filing strategies.

Work closely with engineering departments and parent company on product technology issues that may impact claims or litigation

Respond to various IP inquiries from, and provide legal advice to, Nintendo’s parent company, subsidiaries and other Nintendo of America departments

Communicate with and direct outside contacts, including outside counsel and consultants, on intellectual property matters

Provide legal advice to company departments, subsidiaries, and affiliates

Conduct in-house training seminars

Maintain knowledge of current legal issues

Up to 15% travel

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS

At least five (5) years of experience as a practicing intellectual property lawyer in a law firm or in-house legal department

Working knowledge of intellectual property laws with a focus on patent, trademark, and copyright law.

Excellent drafting and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated track record of outstanding achievement and accomplishment

Must be willing to travel and work extended hours when necessary

Law degree

Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or related field; computer industry experience desirable. Registered Patent Attorney with the USPTO is a plus.

Membership in the Washington State Bar Association or other comparable state qualification
