Intellectual Property Counsel

Main Objective: Responsible for a broad range of IP services in order to protect the organization's legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Draft and prosecute US patent applications.
2. Manage patent and trademark portfolios.
3. Management of outside counsel working on IP-related matters.
4. Supporting/lead role in the development of patentability, validity, infringement, freedom-to-practice opinions and patent searching.
5. Frequent interaction with the R&D and product development teams.
6. Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.

Education and Experience:

• Registered US patent attorney, with a minimum of 5 years experience, well grounded in patent drafting and prosecution, preferably on a world-wide basis.
• Specific experience in orthopedic or spine industries is desirable.
• The position will have responsibility for the IP of multiple Arthrex product groups.
• Must also be a graduate of an accredited law school and a member in good standing of a state bar.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Advanced writing, comprehensive reading, communication and research skills required.

Electronic based legal research experience required.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

MS Office, PC, printer, copiers and other miscellaneous office equipment
