PURPOSE: Lincoln Electric, a global manufacturer headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an experienced employment lawyer who can act as the primary legal advisor on U.S. employment law, support our global operations, offer solutions that balance legal risk and business impact, and work effectively with cross-functional and international teams on a variety of employment and compliance matters.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Provide effective and practical counsel on a broad range of sophisticated U.S. employment issues including: recruiting, hiring, employee relations, discipline, terminations, reductions-in-force, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, immigration, workers compensation, organized labor matters, health/safety (OSHA), non-compete agreements and data privacy.
  • Collaborate with global colleagues on employment matters outside the U.S., providing strategic counsel and oversight.
  • Help develop and implement employment practices and policies that balance legal risk with business priorities.
  • Lead complex internal investigations in collaboration with the Compliance Department.
  • Assist in the management of employment litigation, and pre-litigation disputes.
  • Monitor new regulatory/legal developments and assess impacts on business practices and long-term business goals.
  • Plan and conduct training for managers and employees on employment-related topics.
  • Support legal department and cross-functional colleagues on complex legal matters, including on M&A due diligence and integration activities.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • JD degree from an accredited law school; license to practice law in the US.
  • 7+ years of substantive employment experience.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Greater Cleveland and/or be locally available for onsite work
  • Large law firm and/or large international company experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of success providing strategic employment counsel to business partners.
  • Expert-level familiarity with U.S. federal and state employment laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Collaborative and able to develop trust and credibility.
  • Fluent in all Microsoft Office applications.
