Position Description

We are seeking a VP, Associate General Counsel - Litigation and Investigations to be responsible for enterprise-wide management of all of the Companys litigation, dispute resolution efforts, internal and external investigations, and preventative law program.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Management and coordination of all litigation and dispute resolution matters at EasyKnock, including portfolio of ordinary course property management and collection matters
  • Management of all internal and external investigations and preventative law program
  • Supervision of outside counsel and third-party service providers, including development and implementation of litigation strategy and arguments, review of legal briefs, efficient use of electronic discovery, etc.
  • With respect to litigation, while the role would be primarily managing outside counsel resources, this hire must be capable of undertaking specific and important litigation tasks that may be brought in-house, including brief writing and editing, taking depositions, preparing company employees for depositions, selecting and preparing expert witnesses, arguing motions, and participating in hearings and trials
  • Preparing and coordinating responses to inquiries or investigations from government agencies or regulators
  • Brief and develop strategy with the General Counsel and Executive Team
  • Developing internal procedures and standards for document discovery, preparing and reviewing court filings, and discovery

Requirements:

  • Licensed attorney in good standing (NY preferred) with strong academic credentials
  • A minimum of 6 years of litigation experience
  • Have significant, wide-ranging, investigation, litigation, and enforcement experience
  • Strong legal editing, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to direct and manage relationships and budgets with outside counsel
  • A willingness to learn new areas of law, acquire new skills, and take on additional and/or new responsibilities within the team on an as-needed basis
  • A strong ownership mindset and ability to adapt and thrive in ambiguous or uncertain environments
  • Bonus points for experience with residential real estate transactions, landlord-tenant, property management issues, proptech, and/or fintech

BENEFITS:

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and geographic location. Range: $175,000 - $205,000
