The Office of the Commonwealths Attorney is looking for an experienced prosecutor for the position of Senior Assistant Commonwealths Attorney
ABOUT THE ROLE
Assigned to one of five units: Violent Crimes, Special Investigations, Domestic Violence, Juvenile Offenders, or Special Victims. The position reports directly to their units Deputy Commonwealths Attorney. Duties will include overseeing daily dockets that are not otherwise assigned, handling a full caseload at all levels of Court, serving as Duty Attorney and responding to calls and questions from citizens, law enforcement, and defense counsel; Attending Relevant training; and Engaging with members of the Community we serve.
PREFERENCES
The ideal candidate must have a Juris Doctorate degree and five or more years of related experience. The selected applicant must: be skilled at legal research and writing; be able to work both independently and collaboratively in an office that values civility, initiative, sound judgment and skilled advocacy.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing
NOTE: This is an at-will position which serves at the pleasure of the Commonwealth's Attorney. Please attach a resume and cover letter to the attention of the Honorable Amy Ashworth, Commonwealths Attorney.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $96,076.50 to $120,000.00/yr.
