About the Role

We are looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) remote Employment & Litigation Counsel to serve as a key member of Glassdoors Legal team for a 6-month contract. There may be opportunities for contract extension or conversion to a full-time role based on performance and business needs, but it cannot be guaranteed.

You will play a critical role in supporting our legal department's efforts in various areas of practice and operations, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our legal processes.

What You'll Do

Employment and Labor:

  • Partner with our People, Places, and Experiences team (HR) on legislation and regulatory updates and review or propose changes to policies and documents
  • Conduct legal research on employment-law-related issues and provide guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Draft and review employment-related documents, including contracts, policies, and procedures
  • Advise on employment disputes and investigations
  • Provide daily legal advice on issues such as leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, terminations, investigations, discipline, wage and hour, and related matters.

Litigation:

  • Manage and respond to litigation matters, including drafting subpoena responses and reviewing pleadings and motions prepared by outside counsel
  • Collaborate with outside counsel on litigation strategy and case management
  • Assist in the preparation of evidence for court submissions
  • Assist with demand letter response

Additionally, there may be opportunities to assist with other legal work outside of these areas, fulfilling commercial and corporate legal needs.

What You'll Bring

  • A commitment to add to our culture of DEI
  • JD degree (or non-US equivalent). Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state or province in which the position is located.
  • 5-7+ years of experience as an attorney, preferably in an in-house environment
  • 1099 Contractor
  • California employment law experience preferred; experience with Canadian, Irish, and UK employment law is a significant plus.
  • Experience with litigation, subpoena response, and first amendment issues.
  • Experience with user-generated content, social media, or similar industries is a strong plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities

Compensation

Base Salary Range*: $100 per hour
