As Associate Legal Counsel, you will be pivotal in minimizing company risk across our diverse portfolio of seven organizations. Your responsibilities will span compliance, insurance, contractual, safety, and legal matters, ensuring our operations—from the ground up—align with our commitment to the GPH Charter. What You’ll Bring to Good Place Holdings:

  • Purpose - minimize company risk by involvement in compliance, insurance, contractual, safety, and legal issues through all levels of the company’s operations.

  • Expertise – the ability to negotiate, conduct research, identify gaps, solve problems, develop solutions, communicate clearly, and perform with integrity.

  • Experience - Juris Doctorate degree from a law school approved for accreditation by the American Bar Association, a member in good standing of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the state where he or she practices law, and the prompt eligibility for such license and standing in Ohio.

Important Things You’ll Do in this Role:

  • Oversee the Risk Management Department.

  • Oversee the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department and all safety matters.
  • Handle, interpret, and negotiate all complex legal documents, agreements, and contracts.

  • Ensure the company’s standard terms and conditions continue to meet the company’s risk tolerance and needs.

  • Manage and renew insurance policies and workers’ compensation claims as needed.

  • Manage and protect the company's intellectual property.

  • Manage safety programs/procedures and compliance information.

  • Provide guidance on risks associated with the company’s current and future products and services to address legal, safety, and liability concerns.

  • Hire and oversee outside counsel as needed.

  • Assist in company benefits design and renewals—ensuring benefit compliance—and serve on the 401(k) committee.

  • Act as the key organizational contact with government agencies.

  • Maintain corporate records and filings.
