How youll LEAD:

We are currently seeking a Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs to work within the busy and dynamic Business & Legal Affairs department of Bravado, UMGs merchandising division. The ideal candidate easily wears multiple hats, and is detail-oriented, energetic, and highly organized.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Exhibit a high level of personal integrity, discretion in handling confidential information, ability to prioritize, and professionalism

  • Be self-motivated, resourceful, creative, and adaptable

How youll CREATE:

  • Draft and negotiate merchandising agreements, pop-up and special event agreements, warehousing/stock list/freight agreements

  • Oversee system for tracking expirations of licensed assets

  • Manage legal aspects of the Amazon business

  • Liaising with anti-counterfeiting vendors and UMG partners

  • Management of ongoing contractual relationships and compliance

  • Rendering answers to executives and colleagues on questions about rights and rates

  • Other general legal research, particularly related to intellectual property rights

  • Working with SVP and other UMG corporate attorneys on various legal matters (settlement agreements, misc. litigation, etc.)

  • Manage, coach, and develop junior attorneys, paralegals and administrators

  • Such other duties as reasonably may be required

Bring your VIBE:

  • Minimum 8 years experience working for a law firm or corporation (merchandising company, licensing agency, etc.) negotiating and drafting agreements related to the inbound and outbound licensing of trademarks and copyrights

  • Education: J.D, plus admission to the California and/or New York state bars

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; extremely detail oriented

  • Exhibit a professional demeanor and good judgment

  • Follow up on assignments until completion

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is resourceful; takes ownership of tasks and projects

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Must be willing to draft and negotiate agreements outside of previous areas of expertise

  • Must be comfortable working with new and evolving business models in an evolving industry and business

  • Strong customer/client service skills a must

  • Ability to interact with outside attorneys and executive management as needed

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments; work well under pressure

  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively

  • Familiarity with Apple computers and software, mastery of Word, Excel, and Preview/Adobe

  • Can work independently with good judgment

  • Solid research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Organizes own work, coordinating projects, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and following up on assignments with a minimum of direction

  • Dedicated team player

  • Music industry knowledge a plus

Salary Range:

$143,775 - $326,883

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
