JOB PURPOSE:
This is a 1-2 year fellowship position as an international attorney for the Global Law Alliance for Animals and the Environment. This position will assist the Director and Clinical Professor in all aspects of GLAs work, including but not limited to, project and case lawyering, evaluating incoming projects, identifying and managing projects for the clinic, and participating in the classroom component of the clinic.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Perform all manner of work necessary to effectively represent or otherwise meet the clinics clients and partners needs.

  • Participate in clinic class discussions, lead discussions as relevant to the Fellows projects, and consult on class materials and syllabus.

  • Participate in aspects of clinic decision-making, such as the intake of clients and partners, identifying and scoping clinic work, strategizing, and client/partner management.

  • Engage in student, community, and client/partner outreach.

MUST HAVES:

  • Doctoral/JD degree with a focus or interest in Environmental, Animal, and/or International Law

  • December 2023 or Spring 2024 Lewis & Clark graduate

  • Licensed to practice in Oregon within 1 year

  • Excellent thinking, research, writing, and other communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to public interest law

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Full time (1.0 FTE)

  • Possibly some travel and/or off-hours commitments

  • Benefits Eligible

PAY RATE:

  • $50,000 annually, with an increase to $54,000 annually in second year of fellowship

  • Position is contingent upon grant funding

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The job works primarily at a desk or is otherwise involved in activities requiring little lifting, climbing or working in tiring positions. Sitting, walking, repetitive hand movements (e.g., typing), seeing, talking, hearing

Eligibility to Work
