Under administrative direction of the City Attorney, the Assistant City Attorney is fully experienced in civil and public agency law and provides a wide range of professional legal services to the City Council, the Risk Division of the City Attorneys Office, City departments, and various boards and commissions; performs highly complex legal work related to municipal government operations; conducts research, advises City officials and departments, prepares opinions and reports, and represents the City in a variety of litigation; performs related work as assigned by the City Attorney.

Receives administrative direction from the City Attorney. Provides supervision and direction to lower lever staff. This position may be assigned overall administrative responsibility of the Department in the absence of the City Attorney.
