JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Implements strategic objectives through effective implementation and oversight of compliance focused initiatives across the enterprise.
Executes internal compliance activities, including creating and implementing compliance processes and delivering quality services, issue identification and resolution, and ensures business partners receive high quality, effective compliance services.
Plays a leading role in developing and overseeing the implementation of compliance related policies, procedures, and best practices.
Leverages deep understanding of the insurance industry to develop a risk-based framework for identifying compliance risk across product lines and functional areas, and prioritizes testing and monitoring efforts accordingly.
Partners with and influences senior leaders across the enterprise to appropriately prioritize and implement pro-active testing and monitoring efforts to reduce regulatory and compliance risk.
Establishes increased accountability over compliance risks within the First Line of Defense through regular interactions with business unit and functional leaders, providing timely and accurate information to business units and executive leadership as appropriate.
Monitors regulatory and compliance risk across the enterprise. Develops and monitors key performance indicators to ensure compliance focused resources across the organization are strategically deployed and aligned with strategic objectives.
Keeps informed of industry-specific laws and regulations. Advises business partners and key stakeholders of emerging regulatory risk and compliance related issues.
Collaborates with business partners to define and prioritize strategies and roadmaps to mitigate regulatory and compliance risk.
Develops and delivers training and educational materials in support of Corporate Compliance initiatives.
Leads, directs and have full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning.
Provides leadership to a highly technical team of Compliance professionals to create compliance focused insights and solutions across the compliance function.
Works with external regulatory authorities to appropriately resolve compliance related matters identified through CNAs compliance program.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills required to interact effectively with all levels of external and/or internal business partners within scope of responsibility, team and/or matrix environment.
Leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
Extensive experience in property and casualty insurance marketplace required.
In-depth technical knowledge of theories and practices of compliance, enterprise risk management, internal audit or related field.
Mastery of effective collaboration across disciplines, business units, and functional areas to implement and oversee execution of key strategic initiatives.
Proven track record of leveraging technology, tools and process improvements to develop innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement in business operations.
A strategic influencer within scope of responsibility. Has demonstrated ability to move an agenda from concept to reality resulting in organizational improvement.
Technical compliance expertise to provide strategic direction and oversight of Compliance functions strategic roadmap.
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software preferred.
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree with Masters preferred in Compliance, Risk Management, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years compliance, enterprise risk management, internal audit or related experience, with five years management experience.
Applicable certifications preferred.
