Job Description:

In-House Counsel provides legal support and advice to Tennessee Oncology regarding federal and state regulatory requirements. This position also advised the organization on a variety of legal matters, including but not limited to contract drafting and negotiation, employment matters, litigation, and compliance. risks and issues. In addition, In-House Counsel may represent their employer in court, in the case of a lawsuit or other legal proceedings as well as participate in settlement negotiations. This position is on-site in Nashville, Tennessee.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Draft agreements and contracts on behalf of the company.
  • Provide legal advice and assistance to management on a variety of legal issues affecting the Companys day-to-day business activities including labor and employment and regulatory matters.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments within the company.
  • Advise on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals.
  • Research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company.
  • Manage the Companys litigation matters.
  • Support the Companys Operations team.
  • Participate in due diligence review.
  • Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure that they are following legal requirements.
  • Provide training to the company on legal topics.
  • Maintain compliance with Tennessee Oncologys Compliance Program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong critical thinking skills, a high level of emotional intelligence and integrity
  • Strong client focus (internal and external)
  • Superior communication skills in both written and verbal presentation, including all aspects of legal writing technique and procedure, and the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-lawyers. Ability to function effectively and complete projects in a timely manner in a fast-paced and changing environment with multiple priorities and objectives
  • Effective leadership skills which demonstrate the ability to participate in innovation and change, strategic thinking, and problem solving
  • Mental alertness and the ability to properly treat confidential information.
  • Approaches others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure and accepts responsibility for own actions.
  • Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; promotes a harassment-free environment
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree from an accredited college.
  • Five (5) years experience gained in large law firm and/or in-house with major firm
