General Counsel

This is an amazing opportunity for a highly qualified individual to take over a position at the very top of the food-chain!

We are specifically looking for a thoroughly qualified lawyer that can help this institution navigate all the legal concerns whilst maintaining the integrity and compliance of the same.

In addition, this role has a strategic scope, and whilst its main focus is in the legal space, the right candidate would also be able to identify the wider impact the decisions in the legal team will have, and make decisions accordingly.

The perfect candidate will:

Oversees a team of attorneys and support staff; recruits, trains, evaluates, and manages, departmental staff in providing counsel, drafting policies/agreements, negotiating contracts, overseeing compliance, managing disputes/litigation, and keeping the institution legally compliant and ethically accountable.

Inform the institution's leaders and provides counsel for responding to legal and regulatory changes affecting the organisation.

Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements and contracts including partnerships, real estate, IP Law and several other legal fields

Have a strong understanding of employment/labour law at an individual and collective level.

Be responsible for hiring candidates in the legal team, manage the legal team budget and advise on efficiency topics.

Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from a well-known law school.

Minimum 12 years of legal experience, with ideally 5 with a focus on employment law.

Must be licensed or able to quickly obtain a license to practice law in the State of New York.
