Sr. Counsel - Patent and Trademark

As Senior Counsel - Patent and Trademark you will be responsible for managing and protecting the companys intellectual property assets, including patents and trademarks, and managing Pinterests program to protect third-party IP, including its IP notice-and-takedown program. Youll work closely with cross-functional partners in Engineering, Product, Content, Trust & Safety, and Legal to develop and implement strategies to safeguard our inventions and brand-identity.

What youll do:

• Develop strategies to protect the companys intellectual property assets, including patents and trademarks, in alignment with and in furtherance of the companys business goals.
• Oversee the companys patent portfolio, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications to protect inventions.
• Manage the companys trademark portfolio by setting strategy for conducting clearance searches, filing trademark applications, and enforcing trademark rights against infringement.
• Provide support to internal and external litigation counsel on patent and trademark threats and filed litigation, including negotiating and drafting agreements related to intellectual property, such as licensing agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
• Advise company stakeholders on intellectual property matters, providing training sessions, and raising awareness of the importance of IP protection.
• Conduct intellectual property due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions to assess risks and opportunities related to patents and trademarks.
• Manage the companys IP notice-and-takedown program, including setting IP protection policies and daily support to Pinterests global IP Operations team.

What were looking for:

• Qualified to practice law in the U.S. state where you reside.
• At least 5+ years of post-qualification experience counseling on patent and trademark issues.
• Experience with patent and trademark litigation preferred.
• Exceptional judgment and impeccable integrity with excellent communication and client-service skills.
• Eagerness to learn with a strong desire to embrace an entrepreneurial, flexible, and collaborative working style.
• Experience leading and multitasking on competing projects and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
