The alliantNational team is comprised of LL.M. tax attorneys, CPAs, former IRS executives, and experienced support staff. Our attorneys work closely with clients, third party CPAs, and other internal stakeholders to handle cutting-edge tax matters including tax controversy work, tax planning for corporations and individuals, legal opinion drafting, and international tax issues. alliantNational is a premier resource, helping clients and CPA partners to stay abreast of breaking tax developments and trends.


Responsibilities
Research and develop tax positions for clients tax controversy cases
Evaluate evidence, develop realistic evaluations of cases, and position our clients to prevail before federal and state tax authorities
Provide analysis, guidance, and planning for various transactions including but not limited to mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring
Develop, evaluate, and implement defense strategies and represent clients in federal and state examinations
Consult on complex matters for domestic and international corporate clients as well as high net worth individuals international
Draft and prepare information for presentation to the federal and state authorities
Serve as the main point of contact between clients and taxing authorities
Provide exceptional client service to internal and external stakeholders


Qualifications
J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation, or equivalent experience
Practice or academic experience involving tax controversy and/or tax planning
Experience working at an Accounting Firm, Law Firm, IRS chief counsels office, or as In-House Counsel (preferred)
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Collaborative, self-motivated, competitive, and highly professional
5%-15% travel required
Location: Houston, TX, with additional opportunities in Washington, DC
