AFL is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to become an essential part of AFL’s dynamic legal team, with an opportunity to make a real impact on our organization's success.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and Senior Corporate Counsel on all company legal matters.
  • Provide legal advice to internal clients across the global organization on a variety of legal matters.
  • Manage litigation and dispute resolution process for claims, disputes, investigations, subpoenas, and third-party discovery for employment, personal injury, collections, and other types of cases and represent the company at mediations and arbitrations.
  • Review, draft and work closely with business units to negotiate company contracts including commercial sales and supply agreements, vendor contracts, and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Collaborate with Environment, Health and Safety personnel regarding risk management, regulatory compliance, and workers compensation claims.
  • Collaborate with the company’s insurers and outside counsel to streamline representation, domestic and international.
  • Handle miscellaneous legal requests from business units.
  • Provide support for creation and implementation of contracting playbooks and processes.
  • Provide support on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and policy development.
  • Provide support on employment law matters.
  • Provide support for regional economic incentive projects.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support the company's decision-making process.
  • Stay up to date on legal developments and trends that may impact the company.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. and license to practice law required (South Carolina preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a large firm or corporate legal department
  • Employment and Litigation experience required
  • Experience with commercial contracts preferred
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications
  • Analytical, well-organized, and detailed oriented
  • Experienced public speaker
