The Albany County Attorneys Office is seeking a Deputy County and Prosecuting Attorney. The Deputy County Attorney will be responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor cases, although may be reassigned as requested by the County Attorney. The duties of a deputy county attorney may include the following:

  • Preparing and trying cases involving misdemeanor crimes;
  • Reviewing criminal investigations and evaluating criminal cases for appropriate charges, plea dispositions, and likelihood of success at trial;
  • Collaborating with law enforcement agencies to provide assistance with warrant reviews and legal questions;
  • Analyzing cases, reviewing discovery, and litigating legal issues, including both oral and written advocacy;
  • Serving as an on-call attorney in a rotation with the other deputy county attorneys;
  • Regularly appear in court daily for arraignments, motion hearings, bench trials, and other court hearings;
  • Performing related work as requested or required;
  • Possibility of being reassigned in emergency situations.



Qualifications Required:

  • Requires a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admission into the Wyoming State Bar, in good standing;
  • Prior courtroom experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of trial and hearing procedure and rules of evidence must have the ability to present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically in both written and oral form;
  • Ability to manage a caseload and respond quickly to changing priorities and situations;
  • Availability to be on call in a rotation with the other deputy county attorneys, approximately once every four weeks;
  • Complete background check, if requested.
