This professional position develops, implements, and maintains oversight of effective, corporate-wide compliance and risk management/safety programs. This position assists the CEO in management of regulatory affairs and designated legal functions. This position is responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, including, but not limited to, provider employment agreements, real estate leases, equipment leases, research agreements and vendor and information technology contracts. This position will provide advice and guidance regarding compliance, medical staff issues, licensing, employment law, research, and business transactions. It is important for this position to have familiarity with laws, rules, and regulations applicable to healthcare entities. This position will also provide legal advice to management on a wide range of patient issues, including interfaces with external regulatory agencies and patients/families.

Qualifications:

Job qualifications

  • Legal degree plus two years related experience required.
  • Current license to practice law in the State of Arizona. Must have by time of hire and maintain throughout employment;
  • Confidentiality: Maintains confidentiality of all non-public VDS business, clinical, financial and legal information, and releases non-public information only as required by law, authorized by the VDS President, or otherwise permitted or required by applicable VDS policy or contractual mandates.
  • Takes charge, directs and coordinates activities of others, and assumes leadership responsibility when appropriate. Effectively and systematically structures tasks, plans objectives, establishes priorities and sets goals, classifies and categorizes information. Delegates the right job to the right employee, apportions work effectively, makes clear and understandable assignments, defines work goals.
  • Displays passion, energy and commitment to the VDS mission, vision, values and focus areas . Consistently goes above and beyond in the completion of assigned duties and responsibilities to help the organization succeed. Regularly contributes suggestions for positive improvements to services and processes.
