There is a vacancy for the position of Assistant/Associate Counsel at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion, and Repair, Bath (SUPSHIP Bath). This new position is located in Marinette, Wisconsin. The successful candidate will be expected to provide legal advice and representation in the areas of government contract law, civilian personnel and labor law, and fiscal law but may also be expected to provide legal services in other OGC practice areas. The successful candidate must have graduated from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court. The position has a full performance level of HN-IV and will be filled at the NH-IV level (GS 14 or 15 equivalent).
To be selected at the GS-14 equivalent level, the successful candidate must have a minimum of three and one-half years of experience practicing law in the relevant practice areas.
For selection at the GS-15 equivalent level, the successful applicant must have at least five and a half years of relevant legal experience with substantial experience in Acquisition Law, fiscal law, and/or Civilian Personnel Law.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
