Position Overview

Reporting to Kiewits Group General Counsel Strategic Resolutions, the Assistant General Counsel will be responsible for managing to resolution litigation, claims, insured matters, government investigations, and other actual or potential disputes. The complexity of the work is unique and significant. Matters often involve over $100 million in dispute arising out of some of the largest high-profile construction projects being built in North America today.

Location

Lone Tree, CO is the primary location. Willing to consider candidates in other office areas including: Omaha, NE, Lenexa, KS or Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

Perform initial case assessment and review of relevant contractual provisions, facts, and applicable law to provide early accurate case/matter risk assessments.
Participate as an integral member of teams in the development of detailed claims.
Collaborate with outside counsel, internal resources, and external experts on the resolution of claims, disputes, and other matters.
Coordinate resolution strategy with the internal stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Lead strategic management of assigned legal matters in collaboration with internal and external resources and stakeholders.
Provide training to operations leaders on lessons learned.

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in a state bar association.
10+ years of demonstrated legal experience with a law firm, corporate legal department, or public law department where the work was primarily litigation-related and involved first chair trial experience.
Background in construction law, government contracts, government investigations, environmental law and labor law preferred but not necessary.
Flexibility to travel as necessary to support the needs and demands of the work.

Base Compensation:$275,000/yr -$310,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
