As a result of Geicos digital and data transformation, the Legal team operates in a demanding and fast paced environment. As the Chief of Staff to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO), you are a master at combining strategic leadership and operational excellence. You are a trusted advisor to the Legal team and run point on a wide range of critical activities including operational cadence, internal communications, strategic planning, metrics, and cross functional projects. You represent the Chief Legal Officer with key partners and leaders when needed and build and leverage strong cross-functional relationships.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a big picture thinker, but also be able to dive into the details across every aspect of the Legal team. With your efforts, the Legal team is executing at a higher level than ever before, and the Chief Legal Officer is focused on the highest risk, highest value issues for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run high visibility projects, ranging from operational efficiency, change management, analytic deep dives, team off-sites, and annual planning.

  • Be positioned as the go-to person on the Legal team. Manage and triage the workflow. Prioritize, delegate, and complete work.

  • Enable the team to prioritize and get after what is the most impactful for our internal customers and identify any roadblocks that might get in the way.

  • Ensure the team is a smoothly running engine, with team wellness and high engagement at the core, enabling healthy team collaboration, efficient project management, robust data and reporting, and effective stakeholder communication.

  • Operate at a strategic level on all things relating to our Board of Directors, ensuring we leverage our external directors to the fullest extent possible, and deliver a best-in-class Board experience.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of attorney or program management experience.

  • Experience working strategically and collaboratively across multiple functions.

  • An analytic prowess, drive to support decisions with data, and the ability to make data digestible to varied audiences.

  • Comfort making decisions and turning strategy into executable plans and actions.

  • Experience in diagnosing pain points for teams, moving them to good, and going the extra mile to ensure they are great.

  • Trusted Advisor Serves as a strategic thought partner, sounding board, and confidante to the Chief Legal Officer and the Legal team. Honest, reliable, discreet and consistent.

  • Strong communicator Both written and verbal. Good sounding board, provider of open, very honest feedback.

  • Influential A filter for information that flows between people.

  • Multi-tasker Ability to get things done. Operational superstar. Efficient with resources available.

  • EQ Ability to smooth out collaboration across groups, challenge decisions, question judgment, and voice concerns.

  • Low Ego Committed to making leaders better & comfortable being behind the scenes. Help employees understand where you can be useful for them versus being a roadblock to the top.

Location:

  • This is a hybrid role, on-site 3 days per week at Chevy Chase, MD or New York, NY.

Annual Salary

$143,000.00 - $224,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidates work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
