Goldman Sachs Asset Management Private Credit

Established in 1996, the Private Credit business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management is one of the worlds largest private credit investors with over $100 billion in assets across direct lending, mezzanine debt, hybrid capital and asset-based lending strategies. Deep industry and product knowledge, extensive relationships and global footprint position Private Credit to deliver scaled outcomes with speed and certainty, supporting companies from the lower middle market to large cap in size.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Asset Management Legal is looking for an experienced lending attorney to provide transactional legal coverage for Private Credit, with a focus on large cap and middle-market lending. In addition to senior secured loans, the work may also involve mezzanine/junior debt and preferred equity financing transactions as well as debt restructurings and other matters. The position offers the opportunity to partner with the business and other control-side areas and oversee legal aspects throughout the transaction life cycle, including the analysis of legal and reputational issues as part of investment committee and portfolio management processes.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advising Private Credit professionals on the structuring, negotiation and execution of financing transactions, taking into account legal, regulatory, reputational and compliance issues
  • Managing outside counsel and overseeing legal due diligence
  • Handling transaction-related fund and fiduciary issues
  • Coordinating with other control-side areas


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years post qualification experience required in a leading law firm or financial institution
  • Strong commercial lending experience is required, with experience in private credit/direct lending preferred
  • Experience with private funds and BDCs as well as with bankruptcies/restructurings is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate ideas and develop stakeholder relationships
  • Team-oriented with ability to respond and be flexible to client demands while adhering to firm policies and group practices
  • Ability to engage proactively as an advisor to the business and collaboratively work with other control areas

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $170000-$270000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
