About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Attorney located in Midland, Michigan. This role is for a strong lawyer with appropriate experience practicing with a major law firm or corporation. The lawyer will be expected to collaborate with legal colleagues and internal clients with respect to the myriad of matters associated with manufacturing operations in a global science and technology company. This is a general practitioner role supporting all matters relating to manufacturing operations. You will function as a member of a team of experienced professionals providing local legal support to Dows North American operations, in coordination with attorneys in Dows global headquarters in Midland, Michigan and elsewhere.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing real estate transactions across North America including drafting relevant agreements.
  • Labor relations and employment, including workers compensation and related insurance programs.
  • State and local government and regulatory interactions.
  • Support for internal functions responsible for Environmental Health & Safety, Emergency Services and Security, and Occupational Health.
  • Commercial contract drafting.
  • Litigation support/case management.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor or Master of Laws.
  • A minimum of 3 years practicing law
  • Admission to State Bar or eligible for admission.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship

Preferred skills:

  • 5+ years demonstrable competence practicing law with a major law firm or corporation as an in-house counsel, manufacturing operations attorney or general practitioner.
  • Prior regulatory/operations experience, including with environmental permitting and enforcement practices.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills (written and oral)
  • The ability to deal efficiently with time sensitive demands from a variety of clients.
  • Experience with real estate transactions.
  • Strong law school credentials.
