Job Description

The Prosecution Division investigates and prosecutes summonses issued by TLC which consist of administrative, field, and consumer-initiated complaints. The division prosecutes a wide range of violations including reckless driving, unlicensed operation, illegal street pickups, harassment, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Under the leadership of the Managing Attorney for Prosecution and the direct supervision of the Senior Supervising Attorney, the Supervising Attorney of the Settlements Unit will assist in the daily management of the unit with a focus on overseeing processing and issuance of stipulations based upon individual and batch settlement requests; supervise and monitor the performance of attorneys; coach and train Settlements prosecutors on new and existing tasks and policies; compile and dispatch the LARS report and other reporting tasks to OATH; liaise with other departments regarding compliance and licensing issues; and lifting of revocations/suspensions as required.

Qualifications

1. Admission to the New York State Bar; and either "2" or "3" below.
2. One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar; or
3. Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements:
To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment. To be assigned to AL III candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.
