Job Description

As a senior member of the leadership team, the Senior Counsel will provide legal support and risk management counsel, providing best in class expertise in a wide range of areas including dispute resolution, construction matters, contracts, and other engineering agreements.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as a senior legal adviser, ensuring business practices, policies, dealings, and legal activities meet regulatory requirements to protect the organization from legal action
Provide an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities and timely performance feedback
Manage, negotiate, and structure material commercial contracts including but not limited to Strategic Partnership/JV agreements, M&A agreements, Financing agreements, EPC agreements, as well as complex land use agreements
Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders to reduce legal exposure
Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently across all business lines, functions and locations
Interpret new laws and regulations and their impact on the business
Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and global standards
Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
May need to travel to attend to business related matters
Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

Accredited 4 (four) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and 15 (fifteen) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to 19 (nineteen) years if non-degreed
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and other stakeholders
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Preferred Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and 15 (fifteen) years of work-related experience that includes significant transactional experience in the EPC industry
Experience hiring a leading a team of legal professionals
Strong knowledge of construction law, industry standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws
Ability to handle confidential material with requisite discretion while ensuring integrity in all business transactions
Strong client-service mentality with proven ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients
Exceptional ability to articulate and advocate Fluors positions during contract negotiations with clients counsel
