Status: Part Time, Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, with flexibility


Position Purpose: The role of the Associate Counsel is to provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters across the Hoffman Family of Companies, including, but not limited to, commercial contracts and transactions, employment, compliance, litigation, and general corporate matters. This position reports to the General Counsel and will play a key role in risk management and legal strategies. Prior experience as an in-house/corporate attorney is not required, and training will be provided by the General Counsel.


Location: This position will be located at our Greensboro, NC office, or potentially at another company office location, with some possibility for remote work.


Employment at Will: Nothing herein is intended to create a contract of employment or to guarantee employment for a definite duration.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate matters, including contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and legal disputes across all Hoffman companies.
  • Draft, review, and/or negotiate various commercial agreements, including customer contracts, subcontractor agreements, vendor contracts, non-disclosure agreements, license agreements, real property leases and employee contracts.
  • Manage and mitigate company risk by assisting in development, implementation and/or maintenance of appropriate corporate policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to align business and legal objectives.
  • Manage and resolve contract disputes, consulting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard contract templates.
  • Assist with any other legal matters, as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and an active member in good standing with a State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience
  • Experience in corporate law and contracts is a plus.
  • Experience working in the construction industry is a plus.
  • Experience in employment law is a plus.
