Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate customer and vendor contracts, including purchase agreements, service agreements, license agreements, and lease agreements;
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes and investigations, including disputes with commercial parties, government investigations, labor arbitrations and litigation;
  • Implement, monitor, and enhance ethics and compliance programs from HQ with the goal of enabling and driving compliant ethical business conduct in various compliance areas (e.g. HSE, labor, privacy laws);
  • Act as the bridge between the SK On Global Legal & Compliance Office and SK Battery America management on legal and compliance issues, continually providing advice and guidance to the country management on relevant topics, challenges and major initiatives;
  • Manage local outside counsel effectively;
  • Perform legal analysis/research and recommend appropriate strategies to senior staff; and
  • Participate in other legal/compliance projects and support other worldwide legal/compliance department priorities.
  • Liaise with and report to HQ legal and compliance team leaders in Seoul, Korea under the overall leadership of the Head of Legal & Compliance in Korea

Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree (or an equivalent degree) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 3+ years of legal experience
  • 1+ years structuring, drafting, and negotiating contracts/agreements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in providing legal advice at or for manufacturing companies
  • Commercial agreements
  • Experience leading negotiations with business partners and coordinating external legal counsels across complex and multifaceted legal issues
  • Experience in managing compliances issues such as HSE, privacy, and labor laws
  • Experience in providing legal advice on HR issues
