Estate Planning Attorney

At Annex, we offer estate planning advisory services as part of our comprehensive wealth management for clients. While we are not a law firm, we provide value add services to our clients through education, estate plan and related document reviews and provide strategic and tactical guidance related to all aspects of estate planning and settlement and connecting clients to external attorneys for implementation of the estate plan.


Your Role

  • Conduct estate plan reviews for delivery to wealth managers and clients via written communication or in person meetings, including reviews of beneficiary designations and account titling.
  • Provide introductory estate plan conversation to clients directly, via seminars, webinars, on demand learning options, radio segments and other media channels.
  • Develop and Implement Estate Planning strategies to meet the needs of a growing and estate-planning-diverse client base.
  • Lead and mentor an expanding team of estate planning specialists, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Guide staff in the management of probate and trust administration processes, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of assets to beneficiaries.
  • Provide internal estate planning training to wealth managers and client service managers, including any new law changes related to estate and tax planning.
  • Maintain network of external attorneys to be able to provide referrals for clients.
  • Coordinate the efficient account transitions for beneficiaries upon death of clients, by performing high-level reviews of estate plans and beneficiary designations to develop an overall transition strategy and advise beneficiaries of their options.
  • Provide dedicated support to trustees and executors throughout the settlement process.
  • Engage with beneficiaries and external legal counsel, as appropriate.
  • Research, follow-up, and resolve client inquiries and requests through effective interaction with clients, advisors, operations staff, custodians, etc., to determine necessary paperwork, documentation, and forms to accomplish client wishes.
  • Ongoing development of processes and procedures for more efficient operations of the estate planning and estate settlement services team.
  • Review various documents for compliance purposes to determine proper account set up for trusts and durable power of attorney reviews to determine extent of authority related to client accounts.
  • Project support (i.e., beneficiary designation reviews, trust account opening/titling, account clean up, proactive file reviews) as needed.
Requirements

  • REQUIRED JD and Ten (10) plus years experience in estate planning and estate settlement fundamentals, including account and asset distribution methods, options for inheriting IRAs, and basic understanding of tax consequences.
  • Experience and comfort working with various custodians and their processes is a plus.
  • Experience leading team members and projects working collaboratively across business functions.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with industry software for financial planning and CRM is a plus.
