Counsel
Minimum Qualifications NYS Bar Admission. Ability to work evenings/weekends; Demonstrates strong negotiation and communication skills. Excellent legal research & writing skills required. Legislative Bill Drafting experience (NYS tax law preferred but not required).
Duties Description The Counsel assists the Committee staff in providing basic professional services to support the duties and responsibilities of the committee. The counsel is responsible for analyzing legislation for legal and constitutional implications; researching legal issues; preparing preliminary drafts of bills on request, including program proposals; assisting in the preparation of analytical memoranda relating to bills; preparing for public hearings and private conferences; completion of research reports and meeting with individuals and groups regarding legislation.
