CEFCU member service team members are critical to the success of the credit union. They provide a professional, knowledgeable, and caring experience when members contact us. We are looking for individuals who are personable, articulate, and positive to add to our already awesome team!

Serves as Assistant Chief Legal Counsel and Compliance Counsel and performs the essential duties and responsibilities described below. Work involves extraordinary time demands in:

Managing a comprehensive vendor due diligence and oversight program.
Managing a comprehensive third-party risk and oversight program.
Managing a comprehensive issue management and regulatory change management program.
Managing all insurance and bond-related litigation.
Providing legal advice and opinions on compliance, regulatory, operational, and transactional issues.
Providing counsel on internal policies and procedures and new business initiatives.
Collaborating with all levels of the organization.

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law and active member in good standing with the Illinois state bar.
  • Minimum 1 - 4 years legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Good knowledge of contract, corporate, credit union and cybersecurity law.
  • Good knowledge of federal and state credit union laws, rules, regulations (specifically the alphabet soup of federal consumer protection regulations) and applicable regulatory guidance.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple, high priority projects simultaneously with attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, business-minded approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to providing practical legal advice and solutions.
