Job Summary

Utah Legal Services prioritizes helping clients with cases that affect their basic needs, including safety.We areseekingamotivated and passionate individualto joinour Domestic Task Forcewhereyou willwork with like-minded professionals toempower clientsandassistsurvivors of domestic violence and sexual assault with legal matters that will help them escape abusive relationships wheretheirand/or theirchildren'ssafety is at risk.Thisposition ishybrid or remotebut will require in-person appearances in court and meetings when necessary.


Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in protective orders, stalking injunctions,divorceand custody cases.
  • Clearly communicate with clients todeterminetheir goals, thenassess factual situations and presentrelevantlegal strategies.
  • Prepare and filenecessarycourt documents.
  • Negotiate settlements whenappropriate, mitigating negative consequences to clients whenever possible.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal abilities,verbaland written communication skills.
  • High levelof adaptability, attention to detail, strong analytic and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstration of a strong commitment toassistingindividuals from disadvantaged communities.
  • Professional experience related to working with survivors of domestic violence preferred.
  • Spanish speakingpreferredbut not required.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
  • Admission and good standing within the Utah State Bar Association.

Job Compensation and Location

  • Starting hourly rate of $32.10+DOE
  • This is a full-timeexemptposition.
  • The positionis eligible for remote or hybrid work but will require in-person appearances in court and meetings when necessary.
