Description
Were looking for a smart, commercially savvy and proactive attorney, wanting to work as a key hire in a small and fast paced legal team within a high growth fintech operating in a highly regulated environment. This role reports directly into the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel. The successful candidate will welcome the challenge and responsibility of working independently on projects, owning a wide range of BAU tasks and taking the initiative to build out the legal function for PensionBee in its new US business, while thriving in a diverse and multidisciplinary environment
$80,000 90,000 and generous benefits package
Target start date: 1 August 2024
Employment type: Full time (although depending upon the candidate, flexible working conditions on a 3 or 4 days a week basis could be negotiated)
Location: Financial District, New York City
In office work requirement: 3 days a week in office.

The Associate General Counsel Role
As Associate General Counsel, in our New York office, you will be responsible for:
leading on material commercial contract negotiations for the US business with suppliers, banks and advisors;
maintaining the audit trail for t our US contracts;
acting as point person for regulatory reviews and litigation impacting the US business;
maintaining, reviewing and implementing relevant legal and regulatory policies within the US business;
developing in-house precedents for key contracts, forms and reports;
assisting with relevant annual audit and SEC audit processes and queries;
advising on AML / KYC and associated banking matters;
advising on employment law related matters for US employees;
assisting in corporate governance matters for the US business;
assisting with SEC and DOL compliance and reporting;
advising on SEC and DOL regulatory developments;
assisting with training of members of the US and UK business on relevant legal, compliance and regulatory matters; and
assisting the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel with specific projects and external law firm advisory relationships.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
a law degree from a reputable university,
a record of high level academic achievement;
current New York Bar admission / rights to practice in New York State;
general corporate and commercial experience within a well regarded law firm or in-house team;
experience level: mid-level (3+ years as a guide) but attorneys with experience levels outside of this guide will be considered where possessing appropriate sectoral experience;
desirable experience:
- exposure to compliance with DOL ERISA and SEC regimes
- previous work in a fintech environment
